Yarn Pumpkin

SUPPLIES

orange yarn – approx. 20 pieces cut in 36” lengths
Plenty of white glue (approx 2 bottles)
2 ‘pipe cleaners’ ( 1 green & 1 brown )
bowl kids scissors plastic fork 12” balloon

STEP 1

blow up a 12” balloon about 1/2 way
add more or less air for size & shape desired
knot balloon & tie 1 piece of yarn around the knot
tie on to a hanger or door knob & let it hang down
cover under your work area to catch ANY dripping glue

STEP 2

empty white glue in the bowl
dunk 1 piece of yarn in the glue
use a fork to swirl & thOroughly cover yarn with glue
pull out by the end & slide yarn through the fork
this eliminates excess glue – extra goes back in bowl

STEp 3

start at top or bottom – *reminder the knot is a side
place yarn on & wrap in a crossing pattern
press as you go, making sure iT’s attached
add glue only if needed to flatten the ends
repeat steps 2 & 3 until you like your design

STEP 4

allow to hang until it is completely dry & stiff
be patient – IT could take 24 hours or more to fully dry
keep floor covered under project to catch the glue drips

STEP 5

seperate the yarn & balloon
go slow so you do not pop the balloon
gently push on balloon in open spaces
it takes time to separate it completely

STEP 6

balloon should be loose inside your pumpkin
pinch a small area together near the knot
make a small hole in this area
by doing it near the knot the balloon should not pop

STEp 7

let the air slowly leak out the balloon
when flat & empty pull through any opening
if your balloon pops by accident it’s ok . . .
Just remove all pieces of the balloon!

STEP 8

curl the pipe cleanerS to Make the stem & VINE
wrap around your little finger or a pencil
twist on GREEN vine & brown stem
if not secure you can add glue to hold IN PLACE

HAVE FUN . . . Make more than one
any size, shape or color!
